CVUSD Named California Exemplary District

Castro Valley, CA – (April 3, 2018) – Every year the California Department of Education (CDE)
celebrates the outstanding educational programs and practices through the California School
Recognition Program which honors schools for excellence in education. This year California is also
recognizing exemplary districts that have made exceptional strides in student achievement based on
performance on the state Academic Indicator, English Language Arts and Mathematics. The Exemplary
District Award celebrates the achievements of districts who have implemented model practices that have
had a sustainable and positive impact on student outcomes.

The Castro Valley Unified School District is recognized as a California Exemplary District for
2017-2018 school year. This followed the nomination of CVUSD in March as Alameda County’s
Exemplary District.

“We are grateful for this important recognition and are very proud of our students for their perseverance
and hard work and applaud our staff’s relentless efforts to ensure that students are provided the supports
needed to fulfill their aspirations,” Superintendent Ahmadi said. “Supported by a visionary governing
board, we will continue our work with a laser-like focus on equity in order to fulfill our promise of
ensuring that ALL means ALL.”
